Hello again. It’s amazing to see how profoundly touched many of you have been by Margaret stories. In fact, I hope to publish some journals and stories of people’s relationships with horses using my Method. Today’s post is an example of this and so if you would like to see your work in a book, please send your entries to info@carolynresnick.com.
This is journal entry from Lori, who writes:
8-15-08 A Magical and Unexpected Experience
I worked with Ben today on the Waterhole Rituals. Since this was going to be the first time for Ben, I lunged him first to make sure that his energy level was low and that he was warmed up if he wanted to run around when I turned him loose. Then I took the lead rope off and took some hay into the center of the ring. He began to eat. I walked around the arena for a while and then sat down in the sand to watch him. Of all of the horses I have dealt with he was the most calm but alert at the same time. He would intently look to see where I was from time to time and stop … Read more

Hello. Well, it’s Friday again, so it must mean it’s time for more of Margaret’s wonderful writings. As you will have read on Wednesday, I do so enjoy what Margaret writes as you will have read in Wednesdays post on the Centaur Connection. I am very grateful too for all the comments you write, as is Margaret as you will read below.
So, have a super weekend and I will speak with you next week!
Best wishes
Carolyn

The days are now getting shorter at the ranch. The once overflowing heart-shaped pond has shrunk into a lumpy looking potato. As the summer passed, Autumn and I watched the purple forest clover turn to the carpeting sunshiny buttercups in the meadows, which eventually fell underneath the waving oceans of daises. These were later pushed out by the prickly purple thistles and now the Queen Anne’s lace is trying its’ hardest to dress up the dry and dusty pasture. The cool autumn winds are starting torattle the skeletons of the headless thistles, that I think Autumn had a big part in plucking this season, and the mountains sit crisp, waiting for the winter rains to fall.

Being in the horse industry as I have and a horse lover on my own personal journey, I have seen a lot of personal growth in people due to the impact that horses have played in their spiritual evolution. I have seen trainers grow and change from hardened individuals to philanthropists and students turn into masters. I have seen first hand the physical healing effect horses have on humans. All of these people that I have known over the years have horses to thank for their spiritual growth.
I feel that the biggest influence a horse has on me comes in the moment that I feel a connection between us as One – the Centaur Connection.
I have an overwhelming appreciation and gratitude for the friendship that arises in these moments, the Centaur Connection that comes from our training experiences together. This experience catapults me into an overwhelming awareness to all that surrounds me in nature and to the universe as a whole.

Hi again. Before I get on to today’s post, I ‘d like to tell you about a special event that’s taking place at my ranch on Saturday October 4th.
If you own an ex-racehorse or are planning to purchase one… come and join horse racing hall-of-famer and Parelli student Julie Krone, race horse trainer Jack Frazier, ex amateur jockey Alessandra Deerinck DVM and myself for an open discussion about how we can all help racehorses make the transition from the racetrack to a second career.
You will also be able to see Alessandra work with her horse Rosalie, aka ex-racehorse Downtown Rosalie, and watch their progress towards bridleless riding and dressage using my Method.

A few weeks ago, Nicole from Canada wrote in with a couple of questions and this second one ties up nicely with this weeks post on Unconditional love. Nicole wrote:
The other question I have is with regards to ’round penning’. I use quotes for this term because I seldom put a horse into a round pen for this work, more often it’s in a 2 acre paddock with 3-4 horses. When I have a horse that does not come when called or leaves when I’m haltering, I will drive them off and separate them from their herd. I used to do this with a lot of energy and make them go at least at a trot, if not more. There would be lots of directional changes, both inward and outward turns. Then I would ask them to come back to me and most of the time they come running in.

Last Friday I told the story of how my long-time friend and Certified Trainer, Robin Gates, overcame resistance with a horse she was training. I asked for your thoughts on the matter and thank you to those of you who offered your opinions in response.
This kind of feedback is so valuable for everyone who reads the blog as we all get a different perspective on the subject in hand, which maybe causes us to rethink our own conclusions. So thank you again.
For what it’s worth then, here is my opinion on how Robin viewed and dealt with the situation.

Hi again. I said last Friday that I was to explain what I thought Robin had demonstrated in her story but I know many of you can’t always read my blogs each day they come out, so I want to give you a few more days to think about it and write your comments.
So, today’s story concerns the use of spurs. I was prompted to write it as I’ve just finished doing an article where I was speaking about the use of whips and spurs in training. It reminded me of the first time that I discovered that there was such thing as a spur. I think I must have been about 10 years old when I saw somebody riding with some spurs and I didn’t know what they were. So I asked my father, “What are on those on the boots?”
