Round Pen You Say?
Like I said in last Tuesdays blog- this is something I have never suggested before, but in this case it can be effective when needing to increase your horse’s gas pedal. Use the round pen only if it resonates with you to use it. Next Tuesday I will have another game for you to use that will help motivate your horse’s herding instincts at liberty that you might want to wait for.
When a horse has lost his natural herding instincts it makes it impossible to dance at liberty with him. In today’s blog I am going to talk about how to use the round pen to return the natural … Read more

How to Move Your Dragon
If you are facing out of control dragon energy with your horse at liberty or you have a lounge lizard that will not move when you ask him to move I have some suggestions that could help. For your equine dragon, you can get him to settle down by keeping him out of the areas he wants to be in. For example: if he is running back and fourth in a certain area of the arena, take over the area by keep him out of it. Let him go anywhere else he wants to go- except not in the areas he wants to be in. This includes the spaces he wants to stand in too, which means you will keep him moving.
The Wind in Your Hair…
Here is a visualization that might help you to connect with your horse: See yourself joyfully riding your horse while he is jetting around, and feel the wind in your hair rejoicing with his free spirit. By keeping him … Read more

Hello All!
I am pleased to announce that Robin Gates is doing another clinic on the Waterhole Rituals! We scheduled her clinic dates to help support my students in my up and coming Insider Circle and Extended Circle online programs.
The dates are April 30 and May 1st in Sebastopol, CA. There are a few more places open in her clinic, and it is open to all who are interested- whether you are in my course or not. For those of you who will be in my class this year, her clinic will be of great inspiration and help. Robin will be doing demonstrations in spontaneous liberty dancing with her horses and she will be using her trusted horses in the clinic as a way for the clinic participants to learn my method. She will also be working with horses that are new to my method so you will be able to see the progress of new horse experiencing the Waterhole Rituals for the first time. Many in the clinic with get to feel what it is like to get in the “zone” of the magnetic connection and learn how to keep it, as well as bring it back … Read more

We had a great week at the ranch because spring was in the air and the horses were feeling good and wanting to return to their more active life dancing with us in the arena. Sharolyn Wandzura came down from Canada to work with us on the new website and webzine. We both though it would be better to work in person and get to know each other since we are designing the webzine together, and we want it to take on a life of its own.
Bringing a Dream to Life: Good News for Horses Webzine
Having a magazine is something I have always wanted to do. Before I moved to Escondido, I did not have time for such an endeavor because I had a breeding ranch as well as running an education center for horses, along with traveling around the U.S. doing clinics on my method. Now that I have retired from that business, I have the time! Since we are now in the computer age, we no longer need paper and postage- so it makes it feasible to create a virtual magazine.
You might want to check Sharolyn’s website out. Her site is www.earsforward.com. If you … Read more

Liberty is being able to experience the freedom and joy that comes from connecting with the true nature and spirit of a horse. Giving freedom to a horse from your leadership is true liberty dancing..
When dancing with horses at liberty, you return “home” to what is natural. You are alive in the moment. Communication becomes natural when every fiber you have, is present to sharing the connection with your horse. The horse’s desire to dance and follow our lead returns us to our true self and true nature. It is as natural for us to lead as it is for a horse to follow. In these moments the purpose of training is fulfilled, training has no practical purpose but to share this freedom in a deep connection.

Body Language
As I watch people with their horses, few offer body language that has the power to awaken the horse to dance in unity and harmony with them. Few people offer aliveness and their authentic self to their horses. But the horse wants this from us. He is looking for a leader that is fun and inspiring to be with and can bring out his desire to dance.
The body … Read more
