Carolyn Resnick Horsemanship: Liberty Horse Training

The Foundation for All Equestrian Pursuits Through the Horse-Human Connection.

Monthly Archive for July, 2012

This is an actual letter I received:

Dear Carolyn, Would it be fair to say, that your work is not “horse-training”, but instead a creation of allowing. This allowing is the expression of two beings existing in their truth? Would it be fair to say that instead of training, your work gives behavior a place to exist that mirrors a relationship – mirrors the strength of a bond established?

I am trying to wrap my head around just how truly different your method is from the others. The others operate from doing, forcing and demanding. While your work has no limitation, because of just how beautiful it can be.

My Response:

The letter that I received definitely speaks from a heart driven position. My method comes from this position as I have always warned people not to slip into “the trainer’s mind”. However, my method is definitely a training method. The difference between my method and another is that our job is to stay within the self realization of what we are doing with our horse in the process in his training. We are training, but staying in the heart space that this letter is referring to.

My Dream Dressage Riding School

My Dream Riding School
My dream is to design and direct a new school after the Spanish Riding School using a new approach. The purpose of my school is to create a dance in freedom and beauty through the care and training of horses. In the beginning the bond is grown through the training of the horse, without the influence of tack or fences. The dance in leadership takes place in the moments of a one minded connection in friendships to the highest art of horsemanship.

I have always loved the history, vision and the excitement that took place between horse and human and between men and men at the Spanish Riding School. I imagine how wonderful the experience was for them. During the beginning development of the school the masters were excited about the connection that could be obtained between horses and men as they laid the foundation for others to follow. How exciting it had to be, to sit on the back of a horse and find the dance that seemed almost impossible to obtain, but there it was, being achieved in this great school of the arts between horses and their riders. It has been my dream, … Read more

The Online Waterhole Rituals Course
If your horse could talk I’ll bet he would say, “Please let’s take the course so we can get to know each other better, where we both can get to be our authentic selves, so we may dance at Liberty effortlessly, easily and naturally”.

We still have a few seats available in my next online courses on the Waterhole Rituals. We only have 10 seats available for the Insiders Circle. In the Extended Circle we are already over half full. Both classes start July 22nd. We would love to have you join us.

From the positive feedback we have received, the course is a wonderful medium for everyone to learn the Waterhole Rituals. My program is created to support and enhance all equestrian pursuits.

You and your horse will share bonding rituals natural to horses to deepen the connection and enhance the performance of your horse. These rituals, when shared by humans and horses, develop an ability to match each others movements like a mirrored reflection. It is the most nurturing dance you can experience with a horse from the ground. Your movements become one with a horse without training and without thought. It is … Read more

The sound of Indian drums and chanting came on soft summer breezes in long-twilight evenings of my childhood on an Oklahoma farm. My grandfather spoke of the ceremonial powwows in tones of respect, as he did when he dipped water from our shallow well, dug long before by the People of the Plains. He walked with me to the smooth rock outcropping on the hill, showing me indentations where Indians had ground grain in the times before settlements broke up and fenced the land. Those memories were strong within me as I rode the prairie on my horse, pretending I was living in those times, with great respect for the land and native people that are my heritage on the Plains.

When I showed my horse paintings at a one-woman show in Oklahoma City, a Native American artist dropped by and said in quiet tones, “These are Spirit Horses, aren’t they?” They were, indeed, as they came to me unbidden into the paint, looking for the little horse-girl who loved them. The artist, Thompson Williams, gave me a name in his language, De-tomaha Nah-te, horse-woman. Rhonda Williams, a painter of horse blankets and hummingbirds in her White Stallion Studio, and … Read more
