Hello again. It’s wonderful to see how many new people come to my blog and also that they live in so many different parts of the world. Besides the US and Canada, we have readers from all over Europe as well as South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries too.
My DVD’s are currently only available in english but we hope soon to be making them with german and spanish subtitles. If you think there, could be a demand for a different language, do write and let me know, especially if you are able to help with the translation. Please send an email to info@carolynresnick.com.

Hello again. Hope you had a good weekend. Thank you for all your comments on my blog and thank you to Margaret for her wonderful piece last Friday, which so many of you seemed to enjoy.
People have been asking for another collection of photo’s from readers, so if you have any you would like to submit, please send them to info@carolynresnick.com and Mark will take care of it.
Today’s post is another in the series of questions regarding my Waterhole Rituals. Whilst the Rituals look simple enough on the surface, there are levels of understanding and behavior beneath the surface that must be fully grasped before you can experience their full benefit. Nicole from Canada wrote in and asked me a couple of questions and we’ll look at one of these today. I hope that you find it helpful to your understanding too.

Hello. Today’s questions come from a lady called Michelle, who has a couple of questions that might be troubling some of you, especially if you are new to horses or have just started using my Method. Michelle writes:
Hi Carolyn
My mare licks almost hypnotically, I let her because she seems to have a need to. She’ll lick my coat when I’m back to her or my hands or anything on me! Why?
In companion walking, does it matter which foot you use to step off with when you want her to move forward with you?

Hello. Hope you had a nice weekend. Today we have a question from Michelle from Canada who is already using the Waterhole Rituals to good effect by the sound of it but was seeking a little more clarification. Michelle wrote:
When I go to “say hello”, Amber(my mare) will sometimes walk towards me, so do I retreat, continue and still walk off or what?? She also did this to me later on during the eye contact ritual, so I did some “companion walking” to compensate for her decision.

Hi. Today’s question comes from Danny in Alabama, who is faced with a challenge perhaps many of you experience with new horses. The way to deal with it is similar to the way you might deal with a child that is upset, you change their focus. Read on to see what Danny is asks and what I recommend. Hope it helps!
I have acquired a couple of horses because their owner could not feed them. I have ridden all my life and never had this problem. You have to fight these horses away from the barn, I mean it is a rodeo every time. What can be done? Thanks.
Danny

Hi. Today’s blog post is a question from Dee in California about the difference between respect and dominance with your horse. Dee writes:
To me, as a new horse owner, there is a fine line between gaining respect and being dominant. I really don’t understand the difference. When I try to get my horse to stand still by the round pen railing so I can mount him bareback, he either steps backwards or swings his hindquarters away from the fence. Every time he moves away, I send him out for a few more rounds in each direction and then finally he remains still so I can mount him. I feel like I am scolding him for not doing what I asked him to do. I don’t enjoy making him work so hard, but it seems like it is the only way to accomplish what I am trying to do. My horse is like a puppy. He is my new best friend and he is adorable. I have never been happier. Do I have to be dominant in order to gain respect?

Question time again, this one is from Sheila in British Columbia, Canada, who writes:
My 5yr Dutch WB gelding has “shivers”. I bought him end of Aug. 2007, the owner did not disclose this condition and I bought him on her good word. His dressage training is coming along well, but slowly, but his symptoms (muscle weakness esp.) markedly increased when I put him at an indoor barn for one month. Since he’s been home, living in a large field, he has now returned to full strength. I believe this to be a great lesson for me, but how can he be helped, what does he need?
