Carolyn Resnick Horsemanship: Liberty Horse Training

The Foundation for All Equestrian Pursuits Through the Horse-Human Connection.

I want people to take more time to train horses in how to communicate with humans before we go to conventional ways of training. It is easier on the horse, and easier on the human. What happens when you take time to create a communication system and cross spices bond- is that all training methods are picked up by the horse easily. From the connection you share with your horse-there is no need for reprimand or insistence on performance which can lead to abuse.

I hope you can join my online class coming up August 28, 2011. Although the Insider Circle is sold out, there are still a FEW SEATS available in the Extended Circle Class- which is a great opportunity. I look forward to getting to know each of you and coaching you and your horse!

Perks of the Insider and Extended Circle Classes:
You will get to know many people of like minds and be able to network. You can help one another through the program if you wish. If you are a coach, you can find students, and if you are looking for a coach in your area- you can find a coach that shares your values in how to connect and train a horse. You can make friends with people who have a deep understanding of kinship, and people who want to make a difference.

We are a group of people who can really lift the horse world to a better treatment of horses through an understanding of how horses think, learn, and respond to us. We do not point our fingers at any one, and only make suggestions and give help when asked. From the dance you gain with your horse, people will become curious- and then you can guide them to a better life with their horse. Sign up now >

Amazing Student Diversity
The class is made up of a diverse group of students, ranging from professions to people who have little experience. Working with my Method is a great leveler in that professionals and hobbyists as a whole move forward with their horses at the same rate. Sometimes it is easier for the inexperienced person to advance their relationship and dance with their horse because they have no confirmed ideas and habits to let go of.

From the energy level that I set in the classroom, no one cares who is behind and who is ahead. You quickly learn that wherever you are is fulfilling, rewarding, and deeply educational.

At the end of the Insider and Extended Circle course, you will know how to advance your program and you will still have support from the friendships you have made, from the support of my blog, and future online classes that you can enroll in.

In the classroom, you will get to know each other’s horses and learn the different ways I choose to guide each of you through the Waterhole Rituals™. This will give you a vast amount of knowledge and education that would ordinarily take years to learn.

Individual Needs From Moment to Moment
Horses need to be seen as individuals, and what works for one does not necessarily work for another. Another thing to understand is that what works for your horse in one moment, may not work in another. You need to be able to see into the real experience. You will develop this ability through my guidance of the Waterhole Rituals with you and your particular horse. You will develop a greater understanding of who your horse really is, and understand his personality better and how to support him.

The Skills Required
The skill required for this course is just that you can influence your horse enough to be able to move him away from you at liberty. And, that you can read his attitude from moment to moment in the most basic way to keep yourself safe. A beginning trail rider should be able to do this course easily.

The price of this course is designed to benefit as many people as possible to help horses get a better deal and raise awareness of how to communicate and create a desire in horses to follow human leadership. Built into these prices is your ability to continue your education in the online school to learn my Methods of training for bride-less riding, how to create a magical dressage horse, trail partner, and last and most importantly a guided spontaneous exhibition dancing horse at liberty.

The Formula…
Here is a formula to get a horse to follow you lead every time: Never ask a horse to do anything if your horse is not feeling the Five Heartfelt Strings of Connection™. (You will learn what they are in the course). If your horse feels safe and feels these 5 connections, he will follow your lead, which is a fact you can depend upon. So all you need to do is ask for performance when your horse feels in tune with you, and he will follow your lead.

By having this ability- you will perform like a master trainer and I will help you to create these connections and how to restore them when you loose them.

The Golden Four:
Another aspect. There are only 4 responses a horse needs to know to be able to perform well under saddle and on the ground. You will have these four responses trained onto your horse from the practice of the Waterhole Rituals.

These four responses are the ability to stop and go, leave and come. That is it. It is not much to develop when we look at horse communication from this point of view. Knowing this will guide you in what to ask your horse to do in the moment when you loose his performance. Instead of trying to get performance for what he will not do for you, just work on something he will do- and reestablish these 4 responses and you are back in the game with no resistance.

In the course, you will teach your horse different ways to move into halt, as well as ways to go and leave that will be learned naturally from the relationship you are sharing with your horse. It will seem like magic, and everything will fall into place.

To get these 4 responses when you ask, you focus on the dance and the fun partnering experience at liberty. The mastery of training and communicating is being able to shape a horse’s spontaneous movement to follow your lead. You will learn how to lead a horse from his spontaneous movements. Having this ability will get you into the zone of connection with a horse and nothing feels better. In my class, you will get the feeling for this kind of connection right away, and from there, we will build the levels of difficulty easily and naturally. Hope to see you in my next Class!!

Free Lesson: Continuation of the Waiting Game!
Here is the lesson I promised you. The lesson is easy for Rosalie to learn because the dance of connection is really on her from the practice of the Waterhole Rituals. Remember last week I showed you a video lesson on learning how to teach a horse to stand still in the center of an arena to help a horse to stand when he is tied. Here is the continuation of that lesson.

A Little Further Explanation: Walking around the horse is the test to see if your horse really understands to stay in one place. When you move, they have a tendency to move, and this will show if the glue is sticking.

You start with small circles around your horse because if he moves, you can put him back easier on the spot he was standing on. Remember, no reprimand- this is important, your simply move him back.

Another reason to do small circles around your horse, is that the first time you walk away, your horse will have a tendency to want to stay with you. Once your horse gets the idea you want him to stand, you then have a better chance that he will stay in place when you increase your circles. Little steps with no reprimand is so easy to do!

I also want everyone to remember that it takes time to make a loyal, dependable horse that you can trust and love.

Enjoy!

Thank you Alessandra Deerinck and Rosalie for being great demonstrators of the Waiting Game!

Camera Person/Narrator: Carolyn Resnick :-)

Stay Tuned:
I can’t wait for you to see our next video with Rosalie and Alessandra! We are going to have so much fun with music and entertainment…and follow the progression of Rosalie standing on her own.

May the Horse Be with You!

Carolyn

Love the video and will try for sure. One question though. What if my horse, at liberty, decides he doesn’t want to follow me back to the center. Can we use a halter just to bring him back to the center or is a halter not recommended for this exercise. Just wondering because I’m not sure Magik will want to go back to the center. I have already been practicing the U.E. and I can walk around him. However, sometimes, when we’re outside in the round pen, he sees some grass and decides he would rather eat than stay with me. What should I do? Let him eat or move him away (taking territory) or can we just lead him back to the center with the halter.
Hope you have the time to answer my question.
    Thanks

that was great, especially when you said this is a fun exercise for the horse, they get treats for standing around doing nothing!!

When I first the video was 10 inutes, I thought, man, I can’t sit here for 10 minutes right now, I am sure glad I did.

that training seemed to me kind of like how people train dogs for the ‘long down’ or stay. Funny people don’t treat horses the same way they do cats and dogs. I think it’s a little of a fear factor. AFter all, you can get hurt pretty bad by a 1,000 pound animal as compared to a dog or cat. But, really, so much more can be accomplished with a treat or two, can’t it.

I find this very interesting. I was taught to teach a horse to cross-tie by using shoe strings on the halter. Tied to the cross-tie snap with a little bow and if the horse got nervous, you immediately pulled the bow release so the horse wouldn’t get scared when he felt the tie tighten. I think your way, which seems as though it will take a touch longer, is looking like it will give the horse a better understanding of what exactly is wanted.

Looking forward to the next lesson. (Also, I’m catching up on posts, hope you see this comment.
