Journaling your horse training
Sep 29th, 2008 by Carolyn Resnick Method
Hello again. It’s amazing to see how profoundly touched many of you have been by Margaret stories. In fact, I hope to publish some journals and stories of people’s relationships with horses using my Method. Today’s post is an example of this and so if you would like to see your work in a book, please send your entries to info@carolynresnick.com.
This is journal entry from Lori, who writes:

I worked with Ben today on the Waterhole Rituals. Since this was going to be the first time for Ben, I lunged him first to make sure that his energy level was low and that he was warmed up if he wanted to run around when I turned him loose. Then I took the lead rope off and took some hay into the center of the ring. He began to eat. I walked around the arena for a while and then sat down in the sand to watch him. Of all of the horses I have dealt with he was the most calm but alert at the same time. He would intently look to see where I was from time to time and stop eating.

Dear Carolyn – I wanted to add that I did enjoy the book, Naked Liberty, and the DVD on the Waterhole Rituals. I feel the book is more on learning about you, your perspective, how you gained it, and a biography using storytelling, not a “how-to” book which I guess people are assuming it is.
The Waterhole Rituals DVD definitely contains enough information to get started with your Method. I’m looking forward to Panadero’s Journey and all the other resources you are offering.
Just read Naked Liberty. This left me looking for the complete information. Which I will assume was part of the plan for this book. It was very infromative about herd dynamic and horse behavior. WOW! I have to say you have been a very insiteful person all of your life. Many people do not look as deep as you do. I think to some degree people are almost taught not to look so close at things, it seems sometimes people think your odd if you do. Anyway, that is my opinion about human nature, I think that geographical location plays a part in human behavior too. Some places people are less in tune. Again, just my opinion.
My question is this? Which of your resources would be the best to use to enhance my work with horses that I have already developed a connection with. I have been doing some things with my horses for years that I have done purely on accident or by instinct, I am embaraced to say that I tend to touch the surface of many things without looking deeper. I am learning though. Your book and blog have reienforced my thinking at the same time opening my eyes more.
I really am interested in learning more and listening to any information that enhances my relationship with my horses. Please advise me as to which DVD everyone is talking about in the above post, it seems no one mentioned the name except your mention of “Pandaro’s Journey” which if I understand correclty is just the first in a sequence of information.
Dear Tine,
Glad you have found my blog. How did you find it? As we go along, I will share all the Waterhole Rituals with you on this site.
Hide treats on the trail and take her to many different places and feed her treats you have hidden. This way you will be very interesting to your horse.
Carolyn
Dear Carolyn,
I am so pleased to have found your blog. I have not read your book yet but I will soon.
Do I need an arena without grass to begin this journey with my horse? I have spent many hours walking with her (using a halter and a loose rope for safety reasons) and lately I find that she responds well to the smallest gestures. Just a small sigh and she stops beside me. I would like to continue this process and I think your work can help me.
What can I do if the horse shows no interest in me when it is turned loose? How can I become more interesting than the other horses (she can see them) or the grass?
Would you recommend to read your book and watch your dvd’s if one cannot visit you at your ranch or call you (I live in Denmark)
Thank you for sharing and making your work available on the internet.
Tine
Peggy, the one DVD you mentioned is meant to be a support to the DVD entitled “The Introduction of the Waterhole Rituals.” If you have my 2 DVDs, the book will have more meaning. A short phone call would get you started. If you heard from someone that “Panadero’s Journey” is not helpful, it is not the same as seeing it for yourself. This DVD is the begining of the program and the next one shows the Waterhole Rituals completely.
Many people have gotten horses completely connected and liberty trained from the one you said was not enough information but I never expected it to stand alone. You need the tools I offer. But my Method is not for everyone because it takes natural instincts and being comfortable working with trial and error and allowing the horse to control your progress.
I would advise you to get the “Introduciton to the Waterhole Rituals”, I believe it is enough.
Carolyn
Dear Peggy,
I would suggest “Panadero’s Journey” and the “Introduction to the Waterhole Rituals”. They are both DVDs. You can also take a course from me at my ranch and talk directly to me by phone.
I also have an e-mail course. This Blog will go into the Rituals as we go along soon. The Blog is also here for your support.

How does one actually get to learn the Waterhole Rituals. I bought your book but it doesn’t go into enough depth to practice. I’ve heard the same about the one disc DVD and the multiple DVDs weren’t published yet last time I looked. I want to begin….Thanks, Peggy
dear lori and carolyn, thanks for sharing!
