Hi everyone. Well, I hear from Stormy that she had a tremendous response to news of the teleseminar series starting in January. If you haven’t already signed up for the series, to remind you it’s free and you can sign up at http://www.thepathofthhorse.com.

OK, on to today’s blog post. I often get asked about starting with a horse and so I thought I would give you some tips for those of you in that position and also for those who think they are having some ‘control’ issues.

Dear Carolyn – I wish this was handed out to everyone who wants to buy a horse! If only people would think it through first, and find a horse that gives them joy, life for horses and their people would be much better.

    Dear Carolyn,
I recently ordered your book and dvd and look forward to the set in 2009. I have TB exrace horse that is of lovely nature but very green and sensitive. She was sold to me as a calm beginners horse and that she is NOT. After reading ALL your blog postings I have decided to get another horse to go with her and do the rituals with a calmer older mare. Now, I have found a lovely well mannered girl and I am bringing her home in two weeks. Can you please advise asap for me how you would go about putting these two together. The TB doesn’t seem to like to socialise with humans or other horses and she is non-trusting of people. My plan was to put them in seperate paddocks where they can stand side by side and then eventually put them in the same one. I am trying to avoid injuries. I also thought if I did the waterhole rituals and the exercises with the rope and leading etc with the calm mare while the TB was present it might help her to trust and want to play too.

Please advise, I would like to start out on a good foot with this new mare who is coming from her only known home of 15 yrs to a new one with me and grumpy Elle (TB).

    Thanks for your advise,

    Tara shaw
