It is one week since my dear students completed the Beyond the Waterhole Ritual Clinic here at the Dances with Horses ranch in California. As I think back to the events of the week I am reminded that the learning continues well beyond the clinic dates. I am delighted to share your journey of connecting with your horses, yourself and the present moment.

Health and Horses

The energy the class brought made my teaching job a joy. Thank you for your interest to dig in deeper with my method and your unique skills you shared with me. What was challenging for me was that I had a cold that really slowed me down. I ran a temperature throughout the whole clinic. The good new is I was very happy with the over all material that we covered. I was very impressed with the skills of this group of students. What I noticed is that everyone had a wonderful connection with horses that was enhanced from my teachings and influence from the online classes. I was also pleased how people who had little horsemanship practice were as capable as the professionals were.

Inspired By Emily

Today I want to share with you part of a response to one of my Insider Circle students that I thought might be of interest to my bloggers:
It is important for mankind to see value of nurturing a bond with others and to care about them more than our self-serving needs. Whether it be horses or two leggeds.

Within the bond, there is an ebb and a flow. There is a time to connect, and a time to pause, and that if you communicate only in the flow when you are completely at peace within yourself, your communication develops an alignment in others.

It is important to understand that by adjusting your communication and by speaking only when you are aligned with source energy, it creates a magnetic willingness in others to follow your leadership. This way, peace on the planet and source energy can flow freely, helping mankind to achieve his higher self. Horses of all the animals can teach these values from the connection we feel that is natural in us to feel.

What will help you to reach your goals is not to care whether or not you achieve… Read more

How to Visualize Leading From Behind

As the Insider Circle and Extended Circle classes are going on, I want to share with my bloggers and the class more detail on how to approach Leading From Behind™ that I offered to Karin in the comments section of my last blog. I also added some information about how to approach your horse with reciprocal movements (leading and following in connection) and Leading From Behind at liberty, and the attitude and energy level that will help in how to approach this Ritual.
When you first start out with Leading From Behind, you start out easy and stay easy. You follow slowly, and when your horse stops, wait a moment. Then ask him to step forward- and when he does, you can either follow behind him, or if you feel he might take off, immediately walk in the opposite direction, and wait for your horse to relax. Use the “Hello” Ritual, but this time, stay with your horse and wait-and when your horse walks off, repeat by slowly following him again. Slowly and surely, Leading From Behind will look like a parade in harmony and unity.

The Growing Up of Apollo

Apollo is evolving himself nicely along with my sporadic training, which I take full responsibility of not giving him the time that he needs. I can surely understand how many people want to spoil their horses because I certainly spoil my dog. But the one thing I have learned with my experience with my dog is that there are two ways I have let him down. One is not believing that evolution would help in his development, so I feel in many cases I was too strong with him. The other aspect is allowing him to hurt my feelings from not being the dog that I thought he should be if he cared about me; like when I first had him, he ran away a lot, and wouldn’t come when he was called. Now in retrospect, all of it has worked out nicely, but I think I brought too much drama in the growing up of Apollo.

In my last report to you about my dog, I reported that I had taught him to pick up two things and carry them. Since Apollo is not a retrieving dog, this was a great feat! And as you remember I did… Read more

I really enjoyed everyone’s response to the last blog. I wanted to share some things with you that are in the works.

Journal Contest
Please if you would re-submit your Journals for the Journal Contest. We have somehow lost the files. For those of you who would like to enter that have not entered the deadline is Oct.1 To qualify you need to have been a student of the Insider Circle or Box Programs. Your journal must be at least 75 pages. The winner will be announced on Nov 1. The winning journal will become the property of the Carolyn Resnick Method. I will try to get the winning journal published in the authors name. If I get it published there will be royalties to the author. Plus you will win a free spot in the 10 day Beyond the Waterhole Rituals clinic. I also want to see if I can get a second book published with expertise from the Journals that were entered. I have few entries at this time so you have a great chance in winning this contest!

If you have not read The Songs of the Horses by Paul Belasik I would like to recommend it. I have found this book to be one of my favorite books on the subject of developing horsemanship skills through the original and organic experience. I would also like to recommend a book by Jenny Rolfe, Ride from the Heart. Her subject is classical training and riding as well as dressage. I have not read the whole book yet but what I have read has been very moving and important to developing the awareness and attitude needed for the optimal relationship between a human and a horse. Jenny wrote a whole chapter on breathing. I am in the stage of carrying her book with me in hopes of having a moment I can read some more pages.

As my Inner Circle group is moving on towards the last Waterhole Ritual, Dancing with your Horse (Go Trot and Come Up), I want to offer some support that I think will help everyone that is working on this Ritual or will be soon.

You are ready to start with this ritual when your horse has a strong… Read more
