Hi, this is Mark here. As you may have seen, Carolyn’s site has been down the last day or so for which I profusely apologize. At this stage, we do not know exactly what happened. I am guessing it was some sort of hack attack, a professional hazard of working online. Anyway, we have restored a backup from LAST SUNDAY 23rd, so if you made a comment on or since then, it may have been lost. Please go back and check if you are not sure.
Apologies once again and normal service will now been resumed… here’s Carolyn!

As many of you know, I use treating and food very specifically and purposefully in my work with horses. However, in the ‘Saying Hello’ Waterhole Ritual, you do not want to use treats. The reason for this is it causes the horse to focus on the treat and not on you.
I gained a deeper insight into why not to use treats during the Hello Ritual from the dog whisperer, Cesar Milan. Watching his TV show, I learned more clearly the way a dog’s mind operates. I was feeding my food-aggressive dog, Apollo, the way Cesar suggested and now that… Read more

In this day and age it’s great to take advantage of the ability we have to share with each other YouTube videos. It is a wonderful tool I can use to guide you in how the connection looks, how to lead a horse through the Waterhole Rituals and what the result looks like. It is also very nice to have the support of my students sharing their perfect connection with their horses.
As this new way of sharing information unfolds, I want to call attention to the dangers of working a horse at liberty. The reason I what to do this is some people can make the mistake of doing things that are not safe. Some think that sharing a heart connection and being on a spiritual journey buys them some form of protection and magic and that they can therefore forget the dangers of working around and with a horse at liberty.
Horses at liberty can be more dangerous than they are with tack because of their natural self-expression (sudden movements, biting, kicking etc.) and their understanding that they are free to express themselves. A horse interacting with you as he would another horse could result in an accident.… Read more

Hi. I find that treats are an enjoyable way to socialize a horse to have a reliable character and willing attitude in his performances. Offering treats to horses may be the surprise answer to creating a magical connection with them!
Most trainers are against offering a horse treats for many good reasons. The most common is that a horse can become rude and spoiled, more interested in the treat than in the connection and the performance.

What I would like to talk to you about today is how to use an area to develop a willing attitude in a horse.
The reason that you need to think about an area is that horses are very territorial. Also, if they have experienced a predator in a certain area, when they return there they are insecure. How we can use this to work for us is that we can take our horse to the arena where we are going to be doing the training and we can get him to the fall in love with the area by feeding him his favorite food there and then taking him home again. So when he comes back to the arena, the horse says, “Boy, I just love being in this arena” and that’s how I use territory in relationship to training a horse.

Hello, hope you all had a lovely weekend.
The story that I would like to share with you today is something that happened to me a couple of weeks ago when we were doing some filming. We were working on my new DVD that we are going to be bringing out showing the different personalities of horses and how each personality responds to the Waterhole Rituals.
We had a horse here that is known as a fearful shy horse and we needed to have one like that to not only show his experience with the Rituals but to show people what a fearful horse looks like.
