Creating a relationship with a horse by waiting for a horse to start the relationship makes a horse easy to train because you have his full attention.
Working a horse at liberty with my method, the horse has an ability to avoid you if he chooses. This causes a person to stop chasing or pushing a horse when a horse is resistant. Not being able to control a horse’s resistance with tack puts the emphasis on developing a bond with the horse first. Having to develop a bond in a free environment develops empathy. You can´t help but become the student of your horse when the horse is free to leave you when he chooses. The focus becomes creating a communication that would draw a horse to you. Training a horse in this manner, the approach must be done differently than with tack. It becomes a co-created process were development of leadership, morality and communication are enhanced. From the horses ability to accept or decline your leadership and from your ability to allow or not allow a horse to be in your present and when you would choose to share food with him you can train a horse naturally.

Welcome To My Blog -To Get You Started!
The purpose of my blog is to make a connection with you. I can connect with people all over the world, thanks to the computer, and we can explore and correspond with one another on the experiences we’re having with our horses in our life!
I also use the blog as a way, to educate, to raise consciousness, and to use philosophical viewpoints that will lead to a better relationship with horses; for training, partnering, and performance.
The blog is also here to help support interested people and my students who are learning my method through the educational material I offer and direct coaching. Feel free to ask questions on horse behavior, pecking order, leadership, self-realization, meditation, and the training and performance of horses. I may answer your question, or I may choose it for a blog topic for a later date. Of course, I can’t answer everyone’s questions, but I will read all your comments and I will respond to several questions on each blog.
I look forward to dialoging on the subject of what creates a better connection with a horse. Enjoy!
I will give you a lesson from… Read more

Animal Planet…
This morning I woke up early and I watched a TV show on orangutans. It was all about the things I had observed about the pecking order of horses. I got very excited! They spoke about all of it, all the things that I had discovered in natural horse bands in the wild. On this show, they spoke of the misguided strength of the youth, attitude, responsibility and there being a “self appointed cop” to the community that did not get into pecking order games.… Read more

I just received a video from Lila Harding that she thought I would enjoy. Lila is one of my suggested instructors on my method as well as a working student. She wrote in her email that it was a video of the Waterhole Rituals™ being done with people rather than horses. I know you will all enjoy it. I wish it was longer, it is about 14 minutes long- but I could have watched for an hour or two more. Seldom are we able to witness such moments of adventure and acts of sharing.
You will see the Hello Ritual™ in its fullest power, and get a deeper meaning to what this Ritual provides to the understanding and bond that it brings to the relationships that we form.
Please Click on the link below to see the video.
Tribe Meets White Man for the First Time
Relationships are gentle things that need a lot of attention.
Stepping back for a moment to think about what a horse is feeling allows the connection to form between you and your horse when you go to him and need him to provide a service for you. It is hard to understand that… Read more

Learn how to shape the energy of the horse to be appropriate in the moment in the interactions you share.
People are talking about Robin Gates and her amazing dancing horses and her amazing clinics. I want to announce that Robin is getting ready for another clinic on September 3rd and 4th 2011 in Sebastopol, California.
Attending Robin’s clinic you will get the opportunity to experience breathtaking interactions with horses at liberty. You will learn how horses in nature develop their bonds and ability to flow together in a dance of unity and harmony right in front of your eyes by watching Robin working at liberty. Robin will explain in detail what is occurring in the horse’s mind so that you may approach your horse in a way that will bring out willingness, cooperation, and trust. The dynamics are the most important part in how to build a working partnership with a horse at liberty and this is what she will be sharing with you.
Robin leaves nothing out, and offers plenty of action. She does this in a humorous and entertaining way that makes complete sense. If you do… Read more

I received an email the other day of short jokes. There was one joke that stood out and made me laugh: “There is a big difference between cuddling and holding someone down so they can’t get up.” The reason I found this funny is that it so relates to understanding how not to overdo it with horses by being too aggressive or demanding. How to get along in an everyday relationship with a horse as well as two leggeds, is to understanding how to use boundaries as a way to create harmonious interactions with the ones we are connected with so cuddling does not turn into abuse. Many times I see people taking advantage of people by creating a friendship just to take advantage of them. This can happen and happens a lot- that horses will take advantage of their humans that love them. Many times horses become completely in charge of their humans because their human care taker sets no clear boundaries so that the horse knows how to be in a relationship with them.
Here is The Lesson in How to Be
Many horse lovers need to be stronger in their boundaries, and even firm. While others… Read more
