As the current Insider Circle and Extended Circle course is closing, I would love to have my students, as well as my readers, add something to my blog in regards to leadership and what you have gained with the connection and feel with your horses. You are also invited to add a poem to my poem.
In my online course, as you may recall, we started Sharing Territory with my guided meditations to help you on your journey. This is so important to bring forth the 5-heart felt strings of connection. I want to end the course with a poem because I believe that it will keep you close on the path in harmony and unity with your horse going forward.
Am I aware?
Who can my horse be now?
If I am aware of my horse’s changing moods, he is more respectful and it draws him to me and I know more in how to respond to him with my leadership and direction.
Is he always the same or is he always growing and becoming?
Am I growing and becoming? Of course I am, this is what it is to be alive.
If I do not acknowledge my new … Read more

Old School Training:
For those of us who learned how to ride horses at a riding school as a child, you probably remember the routine. We were taught where to put our hands, where to put our feet, to keep our backs straight, eyes forward, heels down and all those other wonderful basics taught to beginning students. Some teachers are obviously better than others and I happened to have one that was an old school cowboy as my first teacher and, as with most, he had his good points and his bad points.
Let me give you an idea of where I lived:
I lived in a very rural area of Southern Maryland where it took 30 minutes just to get to the grocery store. This was a time when neighbors raised a variety of crops and we shared with one another. We canned our own fruits, built are own greenhouses and barns, never locked our doors and just hollered as loud as we could to say hello to the closest neighbor.
The neighbors were part of my extended family and we always helped each other out, even if it was just to walk over and borrow a cup of … Read more

Welcome To My Blog -To Get You Started!
The purpose of my blog is to make a connection with you. I can connect with people all over the world, thanks to the computer, and we can explore and correspond with one another on the experiences we’re having with our horses in our life!
I also use the blog as a way, to educate, to raise consciousness, and to use philosophical viewpoints that will lead to a better relationship with horses; for training, partnering, and performance.
The blog is also here to help support interested people and my students who are learning my method through the educational material I offer and direct coaching. Feel free to ask questions on horse behavior, pecking order, leadership, self-realization, meditation, and the training and performance of horses. I may answer your question, or I may choose it for a blog topic for a later date. Of course, I can’t answer everyone’s questions, but I will read all your comments and I will respond to several questions on each blog.
I look forward to dialoging on the subject of what creates a better connection with a horse. Enjoy!
I will give you a lesson from my … Read more

Second Annual Free Course, Winter 2011
Introduction to the Course
Today is the first day of my free Uberstreichen Exercises course for the winter! For those of you who are new to this class, I want to send out a warm welcome! For those of you who took my class last winter, welcome back! The schedule for the course and the blog will be the following: Tuesday’s blog will be the Uberstreichen course, and Thursday’s posting will be a regular blog. Now, let’s get started!

A Quick Note: I want to gently remind everyone that since these exercises are my own creation and intellectual property, I own the rights to them exclusively. This class is for you to learn and benefit personally from these exercises on my site only, no permission is given to copy or reproduce this material for any reason.
A Brief History and Purpose of the Uberstreichen Exercises
“Uberstreichen” or more correctly, “überstreichen,” and how I am using it, comes from a term in dressage that means to release the rein or reins to check if a horse is truly in self-carriage. This is how I know of it. My exercises were named by a dressage rider, … Read more

Announcement: Caribbean Clinic!
It is my hope that my students will take this opportunity to go someplace special to learn my Method with Stina Herberg. I have been working with Stina and her wild horse herd intimately over the last three years. What Stina has learned is very important to the world at many levels. The program that developed from this three-year experience is not to be missed. Stina is officially opening her horsemanship programs at the Richmond Vale Academy and Nature Center in St. Vincent. The kick off will be this exciting new clinic happening on April 4th – 9th 2011 featuring Yoga and Horsemanship in the “Yoga and Rituals for Riding” clinic! The center that is hosting the program is a place that will afford you experiences with horses more magical than you can imagine! I assure you – you will have the experience of connecting with a horse like the boy in the movie, The Black Stallion. St. Vincent, one of the most beautiful places on earth is a paradise of private beaches, tropical flowers, fruit trails, waterfalls, streams, and swimming at the base of waterfalls with horses! I wish I could be there- but … Read more

I went to our local New Age store and found a children’s book titled Zen Shorts. I took a look, read a few pages, and had to have it! I want to suggest it to any one who likes children’s books and the lessons learned from them. Let’s exchange ideas on what to read this winter.
All through the year, I love to have people over to my house. In order to make them welcome I like to keep treats in the bathroom and many interesting books on my coffee table. I have found that people will take treats from the bathroom quicker than if I have them anywhere else. When people come to visit they even go into the guest bathroom to see what treats might be there. What they like is chocolate. It is all experimentation on how to please others and stay connected just like working a horse at liberty. It takes the same kind of experimentation working a horse at liberty as it does creating a social environment for people. I also make sure I have beautiful music playing, and I like to listen to everything my guests want to talk about.
The other day I … Read more

I am once again sharing a letter from one of my Insider Circle Students. I am sure most of us can identify with her observations.
Dear Carolyn,
Thank you for your reminder to us on Monday’s call about how subtle and important intention is when we are with our horses.
When I first was leasing Yowahtee, I was purely in that place of making it all about him. That was how I dreamed having a horse would be and I was continuously thrilled having him in my life. That has not changed after proudly becoming his person and spending the last couple years with him.
In the beginning, others said my first horse should be such and such, and he should not have any lameness issues, perhaps should be older than 5+ years, etc…however, I persisted because this horse deserved to be loved, as every horse does, and I felt a deep connection with him. I had his teeth done, sheath cleaned, nearly fused hocks injected, and tried chiropracty and accupuncture to help the front leg issue…it was expensive, but it worked. I believed in him and saw the treasure within. I was involved with him because of the joy
