Happy New Year to you and to all the connections we share! I want to thank you for being in my life. I wish everyone around the world abundance, deeper connections, health and happiness that multiplies around the world like the abundance of nature in spring.

New Year Wishes

My wish for the new year is for an apprentice or two who have a solid background in training horses that would stay for a long time to learn all aspects my method (Waterhole Rituals, Uberstreichen Exercises, Single Lining, dressage training and bridle-less riding) who could represent my method as I would like it to be. In exchange, I would like you to help me with educational material, office work, emails and bookings or your own unique skills (video, marketing, ???…). Thank you for all the greetings you left me on my blog. There is been no one in the office during the holidays but me. I was not able to respond to your comments because something in the system that was blocking my response. However I do want you to know, I read them all and I’m back to being able to write.

Announcement: Please check back to Tuesday’s blog on the Uberstreichen Class, we have new videos posted.

The conference call was wonderful because of our group and the interesting questions asked. It is so uplifting to be heard and appreciated! Thank you all for your contributions to the call! I am more and more aware that I am making a difference for the horse getting a better deal, and helping the cause of finding other uses of horses from the connection we share with them. They have so much to offer mankind in our evolution, well-being, and life enrichment that they bring to us. We need to take care of the horses we have produced- it is our moral responsibility, and it is important to man’s own salvation. The mind set that would take care of a horse after its practical need for labor and transportation and entertainment is a mind that will help to form peace on the planet.

The Question
Someone on the call asked a question about her trainer who felt that her riding was setting her horse’s training back, and she wanted to know if this is possible. I want to add more to my answer to … Read more

Second Annual Free Course, Winter 2011

Welcome to week 5!

What we have accomplished up to this point is that your horse can stand on a dropped line or without a line, and will stay in place while you walk around him to the right. (This is the beginning of you horse learning to stay in tune with you without governing his performance. You are creating a horse to be more responsible and in self control.  For a horse to do well in self-carriage, your horse will need the desire to follow your request, and then carry out what you ask of him without your constant direction.)

What we have also accomplished now is that your horse will allow you to take a floating hold, and that your horse will drop his head down at any lower level you ask for. (It is important that your horse is willing to put his head in a lower frame anywhere you request it to go, and hold it there in a natural way.)

So far in this exercise you are getting the horse to unlock the base of the neck where the neck ties into the shoulders. You are not yet asking … Read more

Second Annual Free Course, Winter 2011
Welcome to week 2! It looks like we have a very full classroom!
I’d like to continue writing on the subject of theory and the Uberstreichen Exercises a little bit more before I give you the first exercise. I would like to add and revisit some finer points as well.

Some Additional Benefits of the Uberstreichen Exercises:

    1. I developed the Uberstreichen Exercises to help me in my training center in order to develop a horse that would work well for others in collection, presentation, and the attitude of the horse.
    2. I also developed the Uberstreichen Exercises so that when the horse went home, the training and connection would stick for the owner.
    3. When a horse got excited and fearful at the shows I could return his focus easily to feeling secure and relaxed.

Some Surprise Benefits are:

    4. I could return an out of control stallion in a new environment around mares and other stallions to relax and return his focus back to me. In those days I had 5 stallions at the time I was developing the Uberstreichen Exercises, and accidentally found out how brilliantly they helped me in my … Read more

May the Horse be with You!!

What fascinates me about wild horses is their beauty, and their free spirit and how much they enjoy. I fell in love with horses as a child. It was a romantic connection, as it is for many children who are drawn to horses. I felt if a wild horse should befriend me, I would have something special. I grew up with horses, and as a child I was offered an opportunity to observe and ultimately make friends with a natural wild horse herd. I spent every day with wild horses in the summertime in the San Jacinto Mountains of California where my family had a cabin in the woods close to the horses. My summers with the horses extended over three years and began when I was 10 years old. At that time in my life and still today I was looking for the magic I could share with a horse. I wanted to learn their culture and pecking order behaviors. I wanted to develop a relationship with wild horses, to be able to ride a wild horse from a bonded trust and magical connection without having to capture it against its will or train him to accept me on … Read more

As you all know, I am working full time on my next book. Right now, my focus is on compiling the rules and guidelines to follow when using my method.

Rules and guidelines are what makes any method functional. It is all about the dos and don’ts in how to approach a horse. Following the rules judiciously is what creates the success of any method, not just following the rules.

Here are some of my suggested rules and guidelines:

  • Wait for the horse to come to you and want to interact before interacting with him; or wait until you feel the bond is mutually shared in the moment.
  • Never work a horse in a place he is not comfortable in.
  • Never ask for anything until your horse is feeling safe, secure, and willing.
  • If you lose willingness, change your approach, and focus on returning the willingness and relaxation.
  • When using tack, when a horse resists or pulls, release the contact.
  • When using tack, do not pull against resistance, unless you are using it in the Uberstreichen Exercises in a relaxed, benign manner.
  • When your horse walks away from you, you walk in the opposite direction, to accommodate his needs.
  • Likewise,

I’m so excited…!

Hi again. Yes, I’m very excited and I have to admit also very flattered that we now have a full class for the new Insider Circle Program, thank you for your trust in me and my Method. I know you are really going to have a great time and learn so much.

The same goes for the large number of you who have joined the ‘In a Box’ Program too and I’m going to make sure I support you just as much as I can.

Now, we have had a number of questions from those wishing still to join and some from those who already have, so I thought it would be worth just covering those today for everyone’s benefit.

“Now that the Insider Circle is full, what’s the difference between that and the ‘In a Box’ Program?”

Good question and everything’s exactly the same except for 2 items:
- Only the Insider Circle participants get to participate live on the calls
- I will only be doing video reviews for the Insider Circle folks
Other than that, you get all the videos and CDs, all the same call recordings and most importantly you get to ask me your questions … Read more
