Hello. It appears that some of you were a bit confused by the email blast that came out at the weekend announcing a new blog post. Mark asked me to write a quick note explaining that his tech guy was working on some testing and posted something in the wrong place, which triggered the email. When he realized what had happened, Mark deleted the post which is why when some of you tried the link in the email, it didn’t work. Anyway, nothing to worry about and hope that explains it.
However, what they were testing was a new video player using one of the Insider Circle videos and it kind of turned out to be a happy accident. What happened was that some people who weren’t in the class clicked the the link and watched the video before it disappeared. This produced a bunch of comments saying how much they enjoyed seeing me at work and learning the Waterhole Rituals almost first-hand.
So we thought it would be a nice idea to put the video back up so that you can get chance to watch it if you didn’t already do so. This is the very first video in … Read more

Hello again. I love working with my horses. There isn’t anything much that I get so much pleasure out of, as you might have guessed. However, there one thing that thrills me almost as much and that is seeing my students succeed with their horses using my Method.
One of the students who continues to delight me and who is always very generous with her praise of me is Stina. For those of you who don’t know her story, she contacted me about 3 years ago asking if she could study with me. As she lives on St.Vincent in the Caribbean and I live in southern California, this was pretty tricky especially considering the horses she had recently ‘adopted’ were a herd of effectively wild horses. So she started having phone coaching with me and I must say that Stina has done a remarkable job with her herd. The results she and the horses have achieved are fabulous as you will see here and on the videos on the Coaching and Favorites pages.
So I would like to take this opportunity to thank Stina for her continued support of my Method and for the lovely videos she continues to make. … Read more

Hi again. As you may know, I have a horse named Cat. Unfortunately Cat has not been well over the past couple of weeks but is now doing better although I suspect that the medicine is what is really working for him. I believe he still has a lot to healing left to do. Cat has a level 2 ulcer and has been put on GastroGard for 30 days. I also have him on Allay, a licorice based product.
I want to thank everyone who sent in their suggestions. From all your suggestions, I decided to but him on clay and probiotics and the Allay, plus I am feeding him every four hours except at night. I feed him last thing at night between 10-11pm and then in the morning between 5.30–6.30am. I also think it this is very helpful. I changed his paddock which he seems to like. However, I would like to find a Bach Flower remedy for him.
I am posting some pictures of Cat so that the people who offered a reading on him might have some more insight to how to make him more comfortable. I also have Adrienne Moore a highly recommended vet and … Read more

Hi again. Many people ask me how the Waterhole Rituals translate from the ground to the saddle. I think this is a good story that shows where the connection can go and how it can deliver tremendous results. In the YouTube clip below, you will see 21-year old Sophie go bridle-less for the first time. The rider in the film is 14-year-old Julie. The owner not clearly seen in the video is Kajsa Vikman. She has ridden Sophie for 8 years and has experienced some difficulties with her under saddle.
Kajsa began her relationship with Sophie when she was a difficult horse, rescued and in need of support. Primarily used as a trail/pleasure horse, she had her shortcomings but she also had many fine qualities. Sophie used to be a very high strung and nervous horse and still can be. She used to just ‘flip out’ and Kajsa wasn’t able to connect or communicate with her at all.
Kajsa remembers when she rescued her, the trainer at that time described her as having the attitude of a “delinquent teenager” as she was often wild and upset. When introduced to a new place, she would pace for 3 months straight. On … Read more

Hello. Here is an exciting YouTube clip from Robin Gates, a certified coach in my Method and student over many years. I am sharing this clip because it shows the results of building a partnership from the ground using the Waterhole Rituals and how effective it is on Warmbloods to develop trust and a working bond.
In this clip, you can see that Paulo has developed a wonderful gas pedal and brake; a great connection with Robin and wonderful a work ethic in full focus and he has an undeniably enthusiastic nature. His ears are not back and he is relaxed and forward. The connection that Robin gained with the Waterhole Rituals translates to the saddle with the same integrity.

Welcome! I hoped you liked the photo’s on Wednesday, weren’t they cute? Today I have another surprise for you and for me too actually. The video below is from a new DVD of mine called “Liberty Training”. Well, I say new but in reality it was shot about 20 years ago on the ranch I had in Sonoma.
It’s really quite amazing to look at it now and see how much my Method has developed over the years but at the same time how the fundamentals have not.

Hi. The story that I am going to share with you today is about a horse that you may have seen on some of my videos by the name of Panadero. He is an Andalusian Stallion and he is absolutely just the most expressive horse you could ever wish to meet.
Everyday that I went out to see him he would run up to me and we would play this game where we used to run along the fence of his paddock.
